HIGH POINT MARKET WAS JUST PEACHY
Twice a year, interior designers flock to North Carolina to seek the latest trends in home decor at High Point Market–the world’s largest home furnishings trade show. And it is a BIG show my stylish friend, with over 11.5 million square feet of showroom space, 180 buildings, 2,000 exhibitors and 75,000 attendees – including the Manlove and Company design team!
A few weeks ago, Flavia, Jennifer and I packed our comfy (but cute) shoes and set out to find inspiration for both our current and upcoming projects. Read on to discover a few of our favorite finds!
1.) GROOVY BABY
Everything old is new again, that’s for sure! The 70’s vibe is back in a big way with groovy colors, patterns and fabrics. Colors that were everywhere included brown (in almost every collection!), burnt orange, coral and other warm neutrals.
We were digging the retro fabrics on both the below sofa by Vanguard (@vanguardfurniture) and the swivel chair by Precedent (@precedent_furniture). The retro shelves/drink bar by Vanguard is also a nice touch to any swinging pad!
2.) STAY AHEAD OF THE CURVE
And speaking of the 70’s vibe, we spotted a lot of curved, rounded, and ribboned furniture. These pieces are both fun and playful and they work well in modern or eclectic homes.
Flavia is enjoying a comfy ribboned lounger by Vanguard (@vanguardfurniture). Other curved favorites included the sleek, armless chair by Verellen (@verellenfurniture) and the elegant Four Hands (@fourhandsfurniture) settee. (*Note: everything is brown!)
And speaking of settees....
3.) SETTEE YOUR BUTT DOWN
Settees were EVERYWHERE at High Point Market this spring and for good reason. They’re functional, versatile, and stylish. We love adding them to the bottom of a primary bed (a favorite staple of ours…practically a must), against the wall and even in the middle of the room, when you need more seating but nothing that will block the view.
Below, I’m giving my feet a much-needed break on a super stylish settee by Vanguard (@vanguardfurniture). Other beautiful examples include the cozy, grey, boucle-covered settee by Gabby Decor (@gabbydecor) and a pale pink showstopper by Hickory Chair (@hickorychair), which brings to mind an Italian hotel room in an Audrey Hepburn movie. Bellissimo!
4.) GRANNY CHIC IS ACTUALLY A THING
Granny Chic is a trend inspired by vintage patterns, vibrant colors and ornate accents and we saw some vintage inspired beauty we would consider for our projects. The mix & match style can create a nostalgic, feminine look that’s warm and approachable.
A few of our favorites included the frilly ottomans (and bed) by Highland House (@highlandhousefurniture), the elegant Celerie Kemble designed chair for Woodbridge Furniture (@woodbridgefurniture) and the inspiring, multi-layered dining room decor including vintage-inspired floral wallpaper on display by Gabby Decor (@gabbydecor).
5.) MOMENT OF ZEN
We’re seeing lots of natural inspiration out there for lighting fixtures. With organic and irregular shapes, natural elements like wood and rattan, and warm earthy tones, these nature-inspired fixtures can add an inviting sense of harmony and balance to a space.
Below are a few of our favorite fixtures, including; the woven “cloud” fixture by Arteriors (@arteriorshome), the sculptural ribbon piece by Palecek (@palecekdesign) and a fascinating light reminiscent of moth wings by Visual Comfort (@visualcomfort). These lights aren’t just statement fixtures, they’re conversation starters!
There’s a lot to take in at High Point Market. Our team found loads of inspiration from our new discoveries. We hope you found some too for your next home transformation!
